Gameday Mushroom Poppers

Seems like everybody is ready for gameday and the usual prep includes, chips and dip, hot chicken wings, sliders and sausages. However have you been thinking of making your gameday food a little healthier and light while cheering for your team?

Here’s a great and healthy fried mushroom dish with dip to still give that gameday feel without that much calories and fat in it.

Cremini mushrooms are a great type of mushroom to cook with and there are other better ways to prepare them other than just the usual saute. This time were going to dip it in beer batter and fry them all to perfection. Serve it up with some gameday dip and voila instant health food in a couple of minutes with your friends and families to keep your heart and belly happy!

Ingredients

¾ cup flour, self rising

1 tablespoon chives, chopped

1 teaspoon thyme, chopped

¼ teaspoon each salt and pepper

6 ounces beer

2 cups vegetable oil for frying

4 ounces cremini mushrooms, cleaned

For the dip:

½ cup mayonnaise

2 teaspoons chives

2 teaspoons lemon juice

2 teaspoons mustard

1 teaspoon thyme

3. Make your dip by mixing all the ingredients together and serving it alongside the fried mushrooms, enjoy!

Salt and pepper to taste

¼ teaspoon garlic, grated

 

Directions

1. Make your beer batter by whisking together the flour, chives, thyme, salt, pepper and beer.

2. Dip your mushrooms in the beer batter and fry in your vegetable oil till golden brown and cooked then set aside in paper towels.
